The Wellbeing Economy, Ubuntu and Southern Theory

Today we are launching our new Insights Series. This series of reports gives RPC staff, visitors and collaborators an opportunity to publish insights from their own research and lived experiences which may not be associated with other projects. In our very first edition, Dr Francis Naab presents his thoughts on how traditional African philosophies and value systems could help to inform and inspire Scotland's move toward a well-being economy in a piece entitled "Foundations of the Well-Being Economy: The Primacy of Ubuntu and Southern Theory in Shaping Contemporary Insights". This will be the start of a research stream that looks at alternative ways of knowing from indigenous peoples across the world.

The report is available to download and read from our data repository here.

Dr Francis Naab is a Research Fellow at the RPC with expertise in healthcare, food security and rural development in African contexts.
