Case Studies of Scotland Pilots

Between 2020 and 2021, the Scottish Government allocated funding to develop Community Wealth Building (CWB) action plans in five regions of Scotland: Fife, Clackmannanshire, Glasgow City Region, South of Scotland, and the Western Isles. These initiatives are often referred to as the "Community Wealth Building pilots." This report outlines the initial pilot funding and its subsequent implementation in these areas. Additionally, it highlights the innovative work in Ayrshire, which served as a key influence on the pilot projects. The report examines factors that can support or challenge the adoption of CWB policy, with a particular focus on rural and island contexts. Its aim is to provide an overview of the development and implementation of CWB policy through the lens of the pilot projects.
